Most Anticipated (20)

Mind Games (Mind Games, #1)

My Most Anticipated Release of the Week is, Mind Games by Kiersten White. I loved her Paranormalcy trilogy and now I'm eager to see what see comes up with next. Mind Games sounds like an intense read so I hope it's good.

Summary:
Fia was born with flawless instincts. Her first impulse, her gut feeling, is always exactly right. Her sister, Annie, is blind to the world around her—except when her mind is gripped by strange visions of the future.

Trapped in a school that uses girls with extraordinary powers as tools for corporate espionage, Annie and Fia are forced to choose over and over between using their abilities in twisted, unthinkable ways… or risking each other’s lives by refusing to obey.

In a stunning departure from her New York Times bestselling Paranormalcy trilogy, Kiersten White delivers a slick, edgy, heartstoppingly intense psychological thriller about two sisters determined to protect each other—no matter the cost.(Goodreads)

Mind Games (Mind Games #1) Kiersten White. Expected Publication: February 19, 2013; HarperTeen Hardcover, 256 pgs

That's what I'm looking forward to reading this week. How about you?

Review "Supernaturally" Kiersten White

Supernaturally (Paranormalcy #2)
Publication Date: July 26, 2011
Publisher: Harper Teen
Hardcover: 336 pgs

Summary:
In Supernaturally, we learn more about Evie's background as she continues to look for answers as to who she is and where she came from. Eventually Evie learns awful truths from her past, a past that up until now has mostly been a mystery to her. As Lend is away at college Evie spends most of her time going to a normal high school, which she learns is not as glamorous as Easton Heights made it out to be. There are no declarations of love, wild parties, and fist fights in the halls, in other words high school is boring. We also are introduced to the newest member of the IPCA, Jack who has abilities that are of great use to the IPCA. Jack and Evie begin to work side by side as Evie once again decides to work for the IPCA.

Review:
Supernaturally is the the second book in the Paranormalcy series. Though I really loved Paranormalcy I had mixed feelings about Supernaturally. I was eager to learn more about Evie and Lend. But a lot of the novel seemed to focus on Evie dwelling on the fact that Lend was a away at college. I didn't feel the same humor that was found in the first book in this series either, which was one of my favorite parts. Though I had wished Evie continued to be the strong character she was in the first book I didn't hate this novel. I just wish that it had more of the humor that was in the first novel. But I will continue on with the series and hope that the third installment has more to offer.
Cover:
I  was really drawn to the cover of this novel. It has the same feel as Paranormalcy but stands out on its own. I love how the cover is done in shades of red. The flowing red dress, red flowers with a red sky, contrast nicely with Evie's blond hair and pale skin. Very eye catching.

Review "Paranormalcy" Kiersten White

Paranormalcy (Paranormalcy #1)
Publication Date: August 31, 2010
Publisher: Harper Teen
Hardcover: 335 pgs

Summary:
"What the bleep"! I totally loved this book. Kiersten White created some really great characters in Paranormalcy. The setting of this novel takes place mostly in an agency known as the International Paranormal Containment Agency (IPCA). The main character Evie is your typical teenage girl who loves pink  and loves to show off her personalty with the way she dresses. Well as typical as she can be while living and working within the IPCA. Lend is a paranormal Evie meets. He is a teenager who has a unique ability. An ability that others within the IPCA have never seen before. There are several other characters such as Raquel Evies's guardian, Lish Evie's mermaid best-friend  plus a bunch of other paranormal's Evie meets throughout Paranormalcy. Besides the characters I really enjoyed reading how the story came together.

Review:
Evie was fun to read about and I enjoyed seeing this world through her eyes. Evie has grown up working for the IPCA. Where she deals with paranormal's on a daily basis. Some of which are super creepy. As the story unfolds we are able to see what Evie does as a member of the IPCA, why her talent is so extraordinary in a world full of paranormal's. As Evie goes about her life in the IPCA she meets Lend another paranormal who she instantly connects with. It may have something to do with the fact that he is pretty much the only other teenager she has ever got to spend any time with. Life for Evie inside the IPCA can be isolated and lonely. The more time she spends with lend the more Evie starts to question if she wants to stay working for the IPCA for the rest of her life. Evie soon learns things about herself that are hard for her to deal with but with the help of Lend she starts to come to terms with who she really is.

Cover:
I really liked this cover I thought that it portrayed Evie and all that she is, she really does love pink. And I thought it was really awesome that she was wearing a pink dress on the cover. I saw this cover and instantly wanted to know what this book was about.
