Review:
Usually I am a little hesitant to read books That I don't pick out myself (I received these for Christmas-somehow my family knows what I like). But I have to say I am really glad I got this book .
Hearts at Stake is the first book in The Drake Chronicles series. It's not super serious it's filled with relationships, sarcastic humor and action.I found myself quickly getting through this book wanting to know more about these characters. Plus Hearts at Stake is loaded with charming hot vampire guys and independent female characters. The story is told from Solange and Lucy's POV. It is interesting to see how the story unfolds from a vampire and a human's perspective, you get to see all sides of the story. From them we learn about the world that they inhabit. I really enjoyed immersing myself in the world that Alyxandra Harvey created. It wasn't just about vampires but several different types of vampires all created slightly differently. Some of them are good and some are just plain evil.
In this first installment we get to see how Solange Drake struggles with the transition of becoming a full fledged vampire. The difficulties she faces and how Lucy, her best friend tries to help her cope. Plus from Lucy we get to see how a human interacts with the vampires that she encounters. I enjoyed reading this book because even though there are serious things going on the characters are a little crazy and are fun to read about.

Cover:
I am not really into this cover, probably because I'm not a huge fan of having characters on the cover, it ruins the image I create in my mind as I am reading. I like covers that are more unique and instantly catch my eye. This one does not do that.
You make this book sound great! I am going to have to check it out. It better be as good as you say :).
