Summary:
In Daimon the prequel to Half-Blood Alex is on the run from the Covenant as well as the Daimons that want to kill her. She goes to a human high school, has a human boyfriend, and is attempting to fit in with the mortals. Even though Alex is striving to live a normal life she's different and can't hide what she is. After a terrifying event Alex is forced to flee and try and find safety from the Daimons that are hunting her. What will Alex have to do in order to survive?

Review:
Daimon is fun, quick, action packed read. In this novella we get a brief glimpse of Alex's life while she is on the run. We also see that though Alex has been away from the Covenant for three years and some of her training is still there. It is a part of her and ingrained into who she is. Despite her attempts to fit in she knows that she is different from those around her. A terrible incident causes Alex to run and hide from the Daimons that are hunting her. This event leaves Alex extremely vulnerable for the first time in her life. I thought Alex showed great strength as she deals with what has happened to her. Even though she is young she also shows an inner strength that pushes her to survive. When many others would have totally fallen apart Alex picks herself up and begins the long road to recovery. Though this was a novella I thought it added insight into who Alex is and allowed the reader to see how strong Alex can be.

Cover:
I really love the cover of Daimon. Not only the beautiful flower but also the varying shades of flaming green. It just pops out and shouts, look at how pretty I am, read me. Very well done!

  1. If Daimon is any indication, the first novel of the Covenant series will be magnificent! This prequel was fun, fast-faced and filled with action. I'm very much looking forward to learning more about the Covenant and all of the different creatures. It's all very mysterious and unlike anything I've ever read! Daimon is very short and you'll fly through it quickly.
